Richmond Community Church is an evangelical church located in Glen Allen, Virginia and was founded in October 1993.
It is the original contemporary, seeker style church in metro Richmond, Virginia. Previous to its founding there were no churches that had solely focused on contemporary music, relevant preaching and use of multi-media in their services.
The founder of the church is Rick McDaniel and the church was originally called Glen Allen Community Church, but changed its name to RCC when additional campuses were added.
The Internet Campus began in 2008, and has grown to over 100,000 Facebook Fans, reaching people all across America and 80 countries.
Senior Pastor Rick McDaniel is a noted author, international communicator and founder of Richmond Community Church. Pastor Rick has earned three degrees including a masters degree from Boston College and an advanced degree from Duke University and is the author of six books including his latest “Turn Your Setbacks Into Comebacks”. He has traveled and spoken at conferences and churches worldwide spanning six continents and is the featured speaker on the “High Impact Living” broadcast. Pastor Kevin is a native Richmonder and grew up in Midlothian, graduated from Monacan High School and went to Campbell University in North Carolina. He is the youngest of 5 children and is married to Kimberly. They have 2 children Abby and Bryce. Pastor Kevin enjoys watching and playing sports, movies, fishing and hanging out with his family. He is passionate about helping people discover their gifts, developing people in ministry and teaching people about God’s plan and purpose for their lives. Pastor Alan was originally a central midwestern boy but now calls Richmond and the east coast home. He received his degree from Midwest Bible Institute in Biblical Studies in 1992. He feels a strong calling to see whole families grow closer to God through great family oriented initiatives in his ministry and others. He is the oldest of three children and is married to Rebecca. They have three kids, Hannah, Noah and Ezekiel. In addition he loves to watch movies, hang out with close friends go fishing with his children and stays active socially on the Internet through Twitter and Facebook.
Noah is new to Richmond, but excited to call it home. He grew up on the move while his father served in the military and was homeschooled until studying at Liberty University. He enjoys playing music in the rock band, the Vegan Llamas. He loves anything to do with the outdoors. He is most eager to see change in the hearts of the unsaved, the lives of the spiritually dormant, and igniting a passion for the gospel.
Derrhyl was born and raised in Philadelphia and recently moved to Richmond in 2015. He holds a B.S. in Sociology with a concentration in Psychology and early childhood education from Temple University. He loves children and enjoys taking every opportunity to help them learn and grow. Derrhyl and his wife Stephanie have a 3 month old son (Derrhyl III). When he is not working with the children in the Launch program, Derrhyl spends his time coaching high school track at Saint Catherine's school and doing his own track training, as he plans to make it onto the 2020 USA Olympic team.
Julie has been attending RCC since 1996 and started in a volunteer capacity in 2009 as an assistant to the Children’s Pastor. She came on staff as the Children’s Director at RCC in 2012. Originally from Harrisonburg, VA, she has been married to Al Duran for 23 years and they have 3 children, Amy, Tim, and Christina. She got her B.S. degree from Radford University in Medical Technology. She previously worked at Kaiser Permanente in Reston, VA as a Medical Technologist for 11 years before moving to Glen Allen.
Matt grew up as a midwest boy but, since being in the central virginia area since ‘89, he calls the east coast home. He fell in love with and married a southern girl a few years prior to attending and graduating from VCU with a BFA in Communication Arts and Design. His love for effectively communicating visually is a perfect fit at RCC as he serves out his dream of utilizing his artistic talents to point to the Church and Christ, all the while raising and being inspired by his 4 children.
A Richmond native, Terri enjoys traveling with her family, shelling, boating and Patricia Cornwell novels. After years working in the corporate arena, Terri has found her true calling here at Richmond Community Church.
